LMCs work closely with the General Practitioners Committee of the British Medical Association (GPC) which is the national body representing the interests of general practice, conducting national negotiations regarding GP contractual issues.
As well as the day-to-day links with the General Practitioner Committee (GPC), LMC views are conveyed to the GPC through our Regional representative on GPC. The activities and views of GPC are communicated to the profession through newsletters, policy documents and general advisory statements.
LMCs are represented at an Annual Conference of LMCs and all doctors are able to submit motions for national debate through the Committee. The resolution of Conference determines the mandate for the GPC in its negotiations at national level.
View the current motions that were passed at the Conference in May 2013.
LMCs are also consulted on all DOH policy developments and consultation documents affecting general practice.
