Medical Receptionist – Roman Road Health Centre

    Medical Receptionists required for a busy GP surgery in Blackburn.
    Receptionist vacancies are either two part time posts or one full time post:
    • Part-time /Permanent Contract – 18 hours
    • Part-time / Permanent Contract – 19 hours or
    • Full time / Permanent Contract – 37.5 hours
    Hourly rate: £7.87 – £9.28 Equivalent to – Agenda for Change Band 2 (dependant on experience)
    We are looking for a flexible, self-motivated and enthusiastic person, who has experience working with the public and has good computer keyboard skills, is familiar with EMIS Web to join our team of dedicated and friendly reception staff.
    A busy GP surgery in Blackburn is looking for a Medical Receptionist . You must be able to work additional and flexible hours morning and afternoon shifts, as required and as necessitated by the needs of the Practice.
    Duties will include greeting patients, booking and updating appointments, processing prescriptions and hospital letters, registering new patients, dealing with incoming calls, taking messages, scanning and dealing with general enquiries and general administrative work.
    You will need to be able to multi-task, work quickly and efficiently with attention to detail whilst remaining calm and professional.
    We are a friendly team and like to provide a high level of customer service for all who visit the surgery. You will need to demonstrate strong communication skills, good IT skills, the understanding of confidentiality, take pride in your work and appearance and be a conscientious team player.
    You will be required to work either 18 hours, 19 hours or 37.5 hours per week, with additional cover for holidays and sickness.

    Blakewater Healthcare is currently recruiting two Sonographer Assistants to support the work of the Sonographers.
    The successful applicants must be prepared to work flexible hours according to the service needs over two sites. The work involves a wide variety of duties, including patient care, clerical work and use of computers. This is an exciting opportunity for someone to work directly with patients and support our DVT/Ultrasound service providing high quality patient care.
    The successful candidate should be a cheerful, versatile and helpful team worker, literate and methodical, have an aptitude for technology with excellent communication skills and the ability to relate well to people putting them at ease. Previous experience in a healthcare and office environment is essential. Previous NHS experience is desirable. Full training will be provided. Applicants will possess GCSE English and Maths or equivalent and a commitment to partake in further training. Own transport and clean driving license is necessary.

Substance Misuse Support Worker

  • General Information
    Main areas of work
    1. Work closely with clinicians in a residential environment, in the assessment and care planning process for service users undergoing drug and alcohol detoxification.
    2. To provide support, advice and information to individuals with substance misuse related problems that are undergoing an inpatient detoxification.
    3. To assist in the delivery of care packages to service users based upon an agreed plan.
    4. To monitor any treatment as prescribed by a clinician, providing support and reassurance to the service user on the management, benefits or side effects of treatment and report any concerns/progress to the nursing/medical staff.
    5. To provide support to clients experiencing distress and enable clients to develop strategies to deal effectively with stressors.
    6. To encourage and support service users to adopt safer practices and healthier lifestyles.
    7. Participate in team meetings and task groups, working towards service developments and specific projects within the team as agreed with Registered Manager.
    8. To assist service users, where appropriate, to address their offending behaviour.
    9. Act autonomously in a non-judgmental way in a variety of difficult situations giving the best possible care/first aid e.g. self-harm or injury.
    10. Contribute to the smooth running of the service, carrying out general duties in cooperation with other team members.
    11. Ensure you maintain accurate, contemporaneous, clinical records, making them available to all members of the team in line with the companies Policies and Procedures.
    12. The post holder will actively seek to extend their own knowledge within the substance misuse field.
    13. Participate in annual appraisal identifying personal training needs and agreeing personal development plan with line manager.
    14. Attend and participate in relevant courses including statutory and mandatory updates and continuing professional development as requested by the Registered Manager.
    15. To participate in the induction process both personally and for new members of the team
